10 Grand Central:
PlantUs was brought in to help realize the design of Craig Deitzldweig, CEO of Marx Realty for their flagship office space and event terrace. Collaborating with Craig, PlantUs provided a rendering of the original blueprint and then proceeded to manufacture custom planters to match the original design.
PlantUs selected ivy plants to both climb up trellises and, when reaching full maturity, attach to the brick wall to make the Ivy Terrace just that. In addition to ivy, Manhattan Euonymus, Hydrangeas and additional seasonal flowers are rotated according to seasonal availability. PlantUs professionals visit the terrace regularly to train the ivy on the walls, ensure plant health, fertilize and weed.
3 Bryant Park:
Nestled in the middle of busy midtown, 3 Bryant park plaza boasts beautiful sculptures making it the perfect place to have lunch during a busy day of work. PlantUs embraced the challenge of designing a landscape to match the unique architecture of a midtown park, carefully selecting trees and plants to allow the high pressure workers of midtown to take a much needed breath.
Throughout the year PlantUs rotates accent flowers throughout the park, Pansies, Liriope, Hibiscus, and Forsythia adorn the plaza throughout the year. PlantUs crew regularly visit the property to ensure plant health, proper fertilization, weed and ensure this midtown gem stays pristine.
The Spring Street Rooftop is a private residence that PlantUs alone designed. It boast an expansive selection of plants and flowers, as well as a plant wall, wooden bridge walkway, multiple fountains, and an awning cascading with ivy. In Manhattan, it is rare to get a truly blank canvas, so when Larry Shepps had the unique chance, he capitalized completely. Stepping out of the apartment onto the rooftop it is easy to forget that you are still in Manhattan. Two levels of flowering trees, shrubs and bushes adorn this residence’s rooftop.
Meticulously organized irrigation systems ensure that these plants succeed in an otherwise unforgiving environment. Spring Street Rooftop was designed with the explicit purpose of entertaining in mind, as such, the dining area is accented by planted flowers, shade giving trees, and state of the art umbrellas.
Pentagram Designs commissioned PlantUs to transform their commercial roof into a garden in which their employees could decompress, unwind, and enjoy. Moreover, this roof helps keep heating costs down with storm water in the plant beds keeping the building at a pleasant temperature in addition to reflective pavers dissuading heat retention. One of the issues PlantUs encounters is the need for privacy. This challenge was addressed by planting Manhattan Euonymus along the parapet wall to create an enclosed, private space. Red Vincas were planted in the plant beds to accent both the logo of Pentagram and the PLEASE THE EYE.
A dedicated PlantUs Professional visits the roof regularly to trim the hedges, maintain the extensive irrigation system, and ensure that the Vinca flowers are thriving.
